Although CBD oil and hemp oil are sometimes used interchangeably, there is a difference. Hemp oil is technically any oil that is derived from the hemp plant CBD oil is an oil that contains the compound CBD (cannabidiol). The compound itself is extracted from the cannabis or hemp plant and used to create an oil. Typically, CBD oils derived from hemp have low levels of THC. But, it’s worth noting that ‘CBD oil’ may also be referred to as ‘CBD hemp oil’. This is when the CBD oil has been taken from the hemp plant exclusively. When the CBD oil has been extracted from the plant and contains other plant compounds this is known as ‘whole plant’ CBD oil, or full spectrum CBD oil. To find out more, read our resource about CBD.
