CBD Oil for Energy and Focus Explained Blog post: Phase Blends CBD Store: Much can be said about the ability of CBD products to improve our health and wellness. From stress relief, to anxiety management, and even neurological conditions like epilepsy, studies show CBD might help. But do the benefits of CBD include improving your energy and focus? As a CBD products provider, we answer many questions about how using our products for a much needed energy boost works. After all, don’t people use CBD to manage anxiety and insomnia? In this post, we take a closer look at what science tells us so far. How CBD Products for Energy Works Early experiments investigating the use of CBD for energy show promising results. In 2014, a study was published in the journal Current Neuropharmacology. Researchers found pharmacological properties in CBD that suggest its potential use as a wake-inducing substance. However, the same study also notes that further research was needed to confirm these early findings. The fact that CBD can boost wakefulness may seem to go against its known sedative-like effects. However, recent studies show that CBD may have a couple of different effects. A review of the literature on cannabinoids and sleep published in Current Psychiatry Reports shows us some interesting points. CBD may have varying effects depending on the dosage. In other words, while a higher dose of CBD can produce a sedative-like effect, a lower dose can act as a stimulant.  These findings are consistent with those of a 2008 study published in the Brazilian Journal of Psychology, which found that a 15mg dose of CBD appeared to increase alertness.  Meanwhile, people who use CBD oil often report feeling more motivated, creative, and confident. This may have to do with how CBD interacts with the network of cannabinoid receptors in the body. The Endocannabinoid System We have a special bodily system that does a lot of different things. It's basically a whole bunch of cells that help spread signals throughout the body. These receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Research shows that stimulating the ECS may boost other bodily functions, such as the body’s metabolism, learning, and memory. One of these receptors, cannabinoid receptor type 1, regulates the different G proteins within the brain cells. It also modulates memory processes, showing a potential link between CBD use and improved memory. To be fair, there is a LOT that goes into discussing the endocannabinoid system that is located within all of our bodies. We have only scratched at the surface in this article, to help give some context. CBD Effects on Athletic Performance CBD was recently removed from the World Anti-Doping Agency’s prohibited substances list. This has, naturally, led to increased interest in the potential of taking CBD supplements to increase energy and athletic performance.  A growing body of research suggests that CBD oil can help expedite post-workout recovery times by reducing inflammation. During extreme physical activity such as weight training and high-intensity interval training (HIIT), the muscles can face intense stress. This stress can get to the point that micro-tears occur in the muscle fibers. These little tears cause swelling in the muscles, which, in turn, puts pressure on nerve endings, causing pain. This is known as delayed onset muscle soreness, or DOMS. Most people feel DOMS by a muscle soreness and stiffness that typically happens a day or two after working out. It usually goes away on its own, but poor nutrition and infrequent exercise can significantly delay the muscle recovery process.  Getting the Most Out of CBD with Synephrine New Phase Blends is, perhaps, the first CBD producer in the world that believes CBD works best when used with other well known compounds. Keeping this in mind, we produce a CBD oil specifically formulated for athletes and people looking to improve their focus and overall energy levels. It's THC free, too! We’ve combined a low dose of pure CBD extract with synephrine, a stimulant sourced from bitter orange. Native to Southeast Asia, bitter orange is rich in antioxidants. Fragrances, essential oils, and, of course, food, all can use bitter orange. What is Synephrine? Synephrine is a naturally occurring alkaloid with well-known adrenergic effects, having a simulative effect on the body similar to adrenaline. However, unlike other stimulants, synephrine does not cause adverse cardiovascular side-effects, such as increased heart rate (tachycardia) and palpitations.  Read more in the blog post...
