In this video I am taking 25 grams of Cannabidiol (CBD) isolate and melting it down into a liquid at 120C. I use 500mg of p-Toluenesulfonic acid added directly to the CBD, hence, neat reaction. Doing the reaction without a solvent it is really easy to see the reaction take place and the visible change as the reaction progresses. The results of the reaction are approximately 75% Delta 8 THC, 2.5% Delta 9 THC, 4% CBDA, 5% exo-THC, 10% iso-THC, and a few unidentified peaks as well. Also it should be noted that the final product in this video would not be fit to be consumed in any way. This is because the acid was left in the final product. In order to make this fit for consumption the mixture would need to be washed of the acid and purified through distillation or chromatography.
